Si Atalia at si Joash
(2 Cro. 22:10–23:15)
1Nang malaman ni Atalia na patay na ang anak niyang si Ahazia na hari ng Juda, nagpasya siyang patayin ang lahat ng miyembro ng pamilya ng hari ng Juda. 2Pero iniligtas ni Jehosheba ang anak ni Ahazia na si Joash nang papatayin na ito at ang iba pang mga anak ng hari. Si Jehosheba ay kapatid ni Ahazia at anak na babae ni Haring Jehoram. Itinago niya si Joash at ang kanyang tagapag-alaga sa isang silid sa templo, kaya hindi siya napatay ni Atalia 3Sa loob ng anim na taon, doon nagtago sa templo ng Panginoon si Joash at ang tagapag-alaga niya habang si Atalia ang namamahala sa kaharian at lupain.4Nang ikapitong taon, ipinatawag ng paring si Jehoyada ang mga pinunong personal na tagapagbantay ng hari at mga guwardya ng palasyo para papuntahin sa templo ng Panginoon. Gumawa siya ng kasunduan sa kanila at sinumpaan nila ang mga ito roon sa templo ng Panginoon. Pagkatapos, ipinakita sa kanila ang anak ng hari. 5Sinabi niya sa kanila, “Ito ang gagawin nʼyo: Ang ikatlong bahagi ng mga nagbabantay kapag Araw ng Pamamahinga ang magbabantay sa palasyo ng hari. 6Ang isa pang ikatlong bahagi naman ang magbabantay sa Pintuan ng Sur. Ang isa pang grupo ang magbabantay sa pintuan ng palasyo para tumulong sa iba pang mga guwardya na naroon. 7Ang dalawang grupo sa inyo na hindi nagbabantay kapag Araw ng Pamamahinga ang siyang magbabantay sa templo ng Panginoon para ingatan ang hari. 8Dapat ninyong bantayang mabuti ang hari, dala ang inyong mga sandata, sundan nʼyo siya kahit saan siya magpunta. Patayin ninyo ang sinumang lalapit sa inyo.” 9Ginawa ng mga pinuno ang iniutos ng paring si Jehoyada. Tinipon nila ang mga tauhan nila na nagbabantay kapag Araw ng Pamamahinga, pati na rin ang mga hindi nagbabantay sa araw na iyon at dinala nila kay Jehoyada. 10Ibinigay ni Jehoyada sa mga pinuno ang mga sibat at pananggalang na nakatago sa templo ng Panginoon, na pag-aari noon ni Haring David. 11Pumwesto ang mga armadong guwardya sa palibot ng templo at ng altar para protektahan ang hari.
12Pagkatapos, inilabas ni Jehoyada si Joash na anak ng hari at kinoronahan. Binigyan niya ito ng kopya ng mga kautusan ng Panginoon. Idineklara siyang hari at pinahiran ng langis bilang pagkilala na siya na ang hari. Pagkatapos, nagpalakpakan ang mga tao at sumigaw, “Mabuhay ang Hari!”
13Nang marinig ni Atalia ang ingay ng mga guwardya at ng mga tao, pinuntahan niya ang mga ito sa templo ng Panginoon. 14Nakita niya roon ang bagong hari na nakatayo malapit sa haligi, ayon sa kaugalian ng pagdedeklara sa isang hari. Nakapalibot sa hari ang mga pinuno at mga tagapagpatunog ng trumpeta. Ang lahat ng tao ay nagsasaya at nagpapatunog ng mga trumpeta. Nang makita ito ni Atalia, pinunit niya ang kanyang damit sa sama ng loob at sumigaw, “Mga traydor! Mga traydor!”
15Inutusan ni Jehoyada ang mga kumander ng mga sundalo, “Dalhin ninyo si Atalia sa labas. Huwag ninyo siyang patayin sa loob ng templo ng Panginoon. Patayin ang sinumang magliligtas sa kanya.” 16Kaya dinakip nila siya at dinala sa labas ng pintuan na dinadaanan ng mga kabayong papunta sa palasyo, at doon siya pinatay.
Mga Pagbabagong Ginawa ni Jehoyada

17Pagkatapos, pinagawa ni Jehoyada ang hari at ang mga tao ng kasunduan sa Panginoon, na magiging mamamayan sila ng Panginoon. Gayon din ang ginawang kasunduan sa pagitan ng hari at ng mga tao na kanyang nasasakupan. 18Pumunta ang lahat ng tao sa templo ni Baal at giniba ito. Dinurog nila ang mga altar at mga dios-diosan doon, at pinatay nila si Matan na pari ni Baal sa harapan ng mga altar.Pagkatapos, naglagay si Jehoyada ng mga guwardya sa templo ng Panginoon. 19Isinama niya ang mga kumander ng mga sundalo, mga personal na tagapagbantay ng hari, mga guwardya ng palasyo at ang lahat ng tao. Inihatid nila ang hari sa palasyo mula sa templo ng Panginoon. Doon sila dumaan sa pintuan ng mga guwardya. Pagkatapos, naupo ang hari sa kanyang trono. 20Nagdiwang ang mga tao at naging mapayapa ang lungsod matapos patayin si Atalia sa palasyo.
21Si Joash ay pitong taong gulang nang maging hari.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
