Nehemiah 11
Er zou altijd een priester, een nakomeling van Aäron, bij zijn wanneer de Levieten deze tienden ophaalden. Een tiende deel van al het opgehaalde voedsel ging naar de tempel en werd in de voorraadkamers opgeslagen. 1De wet zei dat het volk en de Levieten deze bijdragen, bestaande uit graan, nieuwe wijn en olijfolie, naar de tempel moesten brengen en in de daarvoor bestemde vaten opslaan. Dienstdoende priesters, poortwachters en zangers konden er dan gebruik van maken. Zo spraken wij af dat wij de tempel van onze God niet zouden verwaarlozen. 2Bewoners van Jeruzalem
3De leiders van het volk hadden zich al op een vroeger tijdstip in Jeruzalem gevestigd. Via een loting werd nu een tiende deel van het volk uit de andere steden en dorpen van Juda en Benjamin aangewezen om er óók te gaan wonen. 4Daarnaast verhuisden enkele families vrijwillig naar Jeruzalem en werden hierom hoog geprezen. 5Hier volgt een lijst met de namen van de familiehoofden uit de provincie die naar Jeruzalem kwamen. De leiders van de priesters waren Jedaja, de zoon van Jojarib; Jachin; Seraja, de zoon van Chilkia, de zoon van Mesullam, de zoon van Sadok, de zoon van Merajot, de zoon van de hogepriester Achitub. Deze drie mannen gaven leiding aan in totaal achthonderdtweeëntwintig priesters die dienstdeden in de tempel. Er waren nog eens tweehonderdtweeënveertig priesters die onder leiding stonden van Adaja, de zoon van Jerocham, de zoon van Pelalja, de zoon van Amsi, de zoon van Zecharja, de zoon van Paschur, de zoon van Malkia. Een groep van honderdachtentwintig dappere mannen stond onder leiding van Amassai, de zoon van Azarel, de zoon van Achzai, de zoon van Mesillemot, de zoon van Immer. De Levitische leiders waren Semaja, de zoon van Chassub, de zoon van Azrikam, de zoon van Chasabja, de zoon van Bunni; Sabbetai en Jozabad, die de leiding hadden over de de werkzaamheden die buiten de tempel plaatsvonden; 19Mattanja, de zoon van Micha, de zoon van Zabdi, de zoon van Asaf, was de voorzanger die de lofprijzing bij het gebed inzette; Bakbukja en Abda, de zoon van Sammua, de zoon van Galal, de zoon van Jedutun, stonden hem daarbij terzijde. 20Er woonden in totaal tweehonderdvierentachtig Levieten in Jeruzalem. 21Verder waren er honderdtweeënzeventig poortwachters. Zij stonden onder leiding van Akkub, Talmon en hun familieleden. 22De andere priesters, Levieten en het gewone volk woonden daar waar het land lag dat aan de familie behoorde. 23Maar alle tempelknechten woonden op de heuvel Ofel in Jeruzalem, hun leiders heetten Sicha en Gispa. 24De man die toezicht hield op de Levieten in Jeruzalem en op degenen die dienstdeden in de tempel, heette Uzzi en was een zoon van Bani, de zoon van Chasabja, de zoon van Mattanja, de zoon van Micha. Hij was een nakomeling van Asaf. Dit zijn de namen van enkele dorpen waar mensen van Juda woonden: Kirjat-Arba, Dibon, Jekabseël en hun omringende dorpen, Jesua, Molada, Bet-Pelet, Chasar-Sual, Berseba en zijn omringende dorpen, Siklag, Mechona en zijn dorpen, En-Rimmon, Sora, Jarmut, Zanoach, Adullam en hun omringende dorpen. It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
