Pavel před Festem, odvolání k císaři
1Když tedy Festus přišel do provincie, vystoupil ▼▼11,2

Židé ⌈vznesli u něho žalobu⌉ ▼▼ř.: ho informovali
proti Pavlovi. Naléhali na něho 3⌈a žádali, aby jim prokázal laskavost⌉ ▼▼ř.: žádajíce milost proti němu
a poslal ho do Jeruzaléma; chystali totiž léčku, že ho cestou zabijí. ▼▼23,12
4Festus odpověděl, že Pavel je ve vězení v Cesareji a on sám že se brzy vydá na cestu. 5„Ať tedy ti z vás,“ řekl, „⌈kteří mají moc⌉, ▼▼ř.: schopní
sestoupí se mnou, a je–li na tom muži něco špatného ▼▼ř.: nemístného; 28,6; 2Te 3,2p
, ať ho žalují.“ 6Nestrávil mezi nimi více než osm nebo deset dní a sestoupil do Cesareje. Na druhý den zasedl ⌈k soudu⌉ ▼▼ř.: na soudní stolici; 25,10; Mt 27,19p
a rozkázal přivést Pavla. 7Když přišel, obstoupili ho Židé, kteří sestoupili z Jeruzaléma, a vznášeli mnoho těžkých obvinění, která nemohli dokázat. 8Pavel se hájil takto: „Nijak jsem se neprohřešil ani proti zákonu ▼▼24,12; 28,17
Židů, ani proti chrámu, ani proti císaři.“ 9Avšak Festus, který se chtěl Židům zavděčit, ▼▼24,27
Pavlovi odpověděl: „Chceš vystoupit do Jeruzaléma a tam být z toho přede mnou souzen?“ 10Pavel řekl: „Stojím před císařským soudem, kde mám být souzen. Židům jsem v ničem neublížil, jak i ty velmi dobře víš. 11Jestliže jsem tedy vinen a učinil jsem něco, co zasluhuje smrt, nezdráhám se zemřít. Není–li však nic na tom, z čeho mne tito lidé obviňují, nikdo mne jim nemůže vydat. 12Nato Festus promluvil s radou a odpověděl: „K císaři ses odvolal, k císaři půjdeš.“ 13Uplynulo několik dní a do Cesareje přijeli král Agrippa ▼▼Herodes Agrippa II. vládl v letech 53—100. (Při povstání Židů, kdy padl Jeruzalém, byl na straně Římanů)
a Bereniké ▼▼[nejstarší dcera Agrippy I. se ve 13 letech vdala za svého strýce Heroda Chalcise. Po jeho smrti žila se svým bratrem Agrippou II.]
a pozdravili Festa. 14Když tam ⌈už nějaký čas⌉ ▼▼ř.: více dní
pobývali, předložil Festus králi Pavlův případ. Řekl: „Je tu od Félixe jako vězeň ponechán jeden muž, 15o kterém mi velekněží a starší Židů podali zprávu, když jsem byl v Jeruzalémě, a žádali jeho odsouzení. 16Odpověděl jsem jim, že není římským zvykem vydávat nějakého člověka dřív, než by obžalovaný měl své žalobce tváří v tvář a dostal příležitost k obhajobě proti jejich obvinění. 17Když se tu tedy sešli, bez odkladu jsem příštího dne zasedl ⌈k soudu⌉ ▼▼ř.: na soudní stolici
a rozkázal předvést toho muže. 18Jeho žalobci se postavili proti němu, ale nepřinášeli žádné obvinění [ze zlých činů], jak jsem očekával, 19nýbrž měli s ním nějaké spory ▼▼18,15

a o nějakého zemřelého Ježíše, o němž Pavel tvrdil, že žije. 20Byl jsem na rozpacích, ▼▼srv. 2K 2,9p
jak tyto věci prozkoumat, a říkal jsem mu, zda by nechtěl jít do Jeruzaléma a tam být v těchto věcech souzen. 21Avšak Pavel se odvolal, aby byl ve vězení ▼▼ř.: aby byl střežen
až do rozhodnutí ⌈Jeho Veličenstva⌉; ▼▼27,1; ř. sebastos — přepis lat. augustus — 'posvátný / uctívaný', titul řím. imperátorů po Augustovi (viz L 2,1).
proto jsem ho rozkázal hlídat, dokud ho nepošlu k císaři.“ 22Agrippa [řekl] Festovi: „Sám bych si chtěl také toho člověka poslechnout.“ ▼▼srv. L 9,39; 23,8

Druhý den tedy přišel Agrippa a Bereniké s velkou okázalostí ▼▼HL; ř.: fantasia
a spolu s veliteli a předními muži města vstoupili do ▼▼hapax legomenon, jediný výskyt v StS (často nejistý význam) [není uvedeno u všech]
jednací síně. Na Festův rozkaz byl přiveden Pavel. 24A Festus řekl: „Králi Agrippo a všichni muži zde s námi přítomní, vidíte tohoto člověka, kvůli němuž všichni ▼▼ř.: všechno to množství
Židé jak v Jeruzalémě, tak i zde na mne naléhali ▼▼v. 2
a křičeli, že nesmí více zůstat naživu. ▼▼22,22
25Já jsem shledal, že neudělal nic, zač by zasluhoval smrt. Ale protože on sám se odvolal k Jeho Veličenstvu, rozhodl jsem se ho k němu poslat. 26Nemám však nic určitého, co bych o něm svému pánu napsal. Proto jsem ho předvedl před vás a zvláště před tebe, králi Agrippo, abych po výslechu měl co napsat. 27Zdá se mi totiž nerozumné posílat vězně a neuvést zároveň obvinění proti němu.“

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
