Ioan Fedyddiwr yn paratoi'r ffordd
(Mathew 3:1-12; Marc 1:1-8; Ioan 1:19-28) 1Flynyddoedd yn ddiweddarach, tra roedd yn byw yn yr anialwch, cafodd Ioan, mab Sachareias, neges gan Dduw. Erbyn hynny roedd Tiberiws Cesar wedi bod yn teyrnasu ers pymtheng mlynedd; Pontius Peilat oedd llywodraethwr Jwdea, Herod ▼▼3:1 Herod: Herod Antipas, mab Herod Fawr.
yn is-lywodraethwr ar Galilea, ei frawd Philip ar Itwrea a Trachonitis, a Lysanias ar Abilene; ac roedd Annas a Caiaffas yn archoffeiriaid. 3Teithiodd Ioan drwy'r ardal o gwmpas Afon Iorddonen, yn cyhoeddi bod rhaid i bobl gael eu bedyddio, fel arwydd eu bod nhw'n troi cefn ar eu pechodau ac yn derbyn maddeuant gan Dduw. 4Roedd yn union fel mae'n dweud yn llyfr y proffwyd Eseia: “Llais yn gweiddi'n uchel yn yr anialwch,‘Paratowch y ffordd i'r Arglwydd ddod!
Gwnewch y llwybrau'n syth iddo!
5Bydd pob dyffryn yn cael ei lenwi,
pob mynydd a bryn yn cael ei lefelu.
Bydd y ffyrdd troellog yn cael eu gwneud yn syth,
a'r lonydd anwastad yn cael eu gwneud yn llyfn.
6Bydd y ddynoliaeth gyfan yn gweld Duw yn achub.’” b
7Roedd Ioan yn dweud yn blaen wrth y tyrfaoedd oedd yn mynd allan ato i gael eu bedyddio ganddo: “Dych chi fel nythaid o nadroedd! Pwy sydd wedi'ch rhybuddio chi i ddianc rhag y gosb sy'n mynd i ddod? 8Rhaid i chi ddangos yn y ffordd dych chi'n byw eich bod wedi newid go iawn. A pheidiwch meddwl eich bod chi'n saff drwy ddweud, ‘Abraham ydy'n tad ni.’ Gallai Duw droi'r cerrig yma sydd ar lawr yn blant i Abraham! 9Mae bwyell barn Duw yn barod i dorri'r gwreiddiau i ffwrdd! Bydd pob coeden heb ffrwyth da yn tyfu arni yn cael ei thorri i lawr a'i thaflu i'r tân!” 10“Felly, beth ddylen ni ei wneud?” gofynnodd y dyrfa. 11Atebodd Ioan, “Os oes gynnoch chi ddwy gôt, rhowch un ohonyn nhw i berson tlawd sydd heb un o gwbl. A gwnewch yr un fath gyda bwyd.” 12Roedd rhai oedd yn casglu trethi i'r Rhufeiniaid yn dod i gael eu bedyddio hefyd, a dyma nhw'n gofyn iddo, “Beth ddylen ni ei wneud, athro?” 13“Peidio casglu mwy o arian nag y dylech chi,” meddai wrthyn nhw. 14“A beth ddylen ni ei wneud?” meddai rhyw filwyr ddaeth ato. “Peidiwch dwyn arian oddi ar bobl”, oedd ateb Ioan iddyn nhw, “a pheidiwch cyhuddo pobl ar gam er mwyn gwneud arian. Byddwch yn fodlon ar eich cyflog.” 15Roedd pobl yn teimlo fod rhywbeth mawr ar fin digwydd, a phawb yn dechrau meddwl tybed ai Ioan oedd y Meseia. 16Ond ateb Ioan iddyn nhw i gyd oedd, “Dŵr dw i'n ei ddefnyddio i'ch bedyddio chi. Ond mae un llawer mwy grymus na fi yn dod yn fuan – rhywun sydd mor bwysig, fyddwn i ddim yn deilwng o fod yn gaethwas sy'n datod carrai ei sandalau hyd yn oed! Bydd hwnnw yn eich bedyddio chi gyda'r Ysbryd Glân a gyda thân. 17Mae ganddo fforch nithio yn ei law i wahanu'r grawn a'r us. Bydd yn clirio'r llawr dyrnu, yn casglu'r gwenith i'w ysgubor ac yn llosgi'r us mewn tân sydd byth yn diffodd.” 18Roedd Ioan yn dweud llawer o bethau eraill tebyg wrth annog y bobl a chyhoeddi'r newyddion da iddyn nhw. 19Ond yna dyma Ioan yn ceryddu Herod, y llywodraethwr, yn gyhoeddus. Ei geryddu am ei berthynas gyda Herodias, gwraig ei frawd, ac am lawer o bethau drwg eraill roedd wedi eu gwneud. 20A'r canlyniad oedd i Herod ychwanegu at weddill y drygioni a wnaeth drwy roi Ioan yn y carchar.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
