Genesis 38
Jwda a Tamar
1Tua'r adeg honno dyma Jwda yn gadael ei frodyr ac ymuno â dyn o Adwlam o'r enw Hira. 2Yno dyma fe'n cyfarfod ac yn priodi merch i ddyn o Canaan o'r enw Shwa. Cysgodd gyda hi, 3a dyma hi'n beichiogi ac yn cael mab. Galwodd Jwda'r plentyn yn Er. 4Wedyn dyma hi'n beichiogi eto ac yn cael mab arall a'i alw yn Onan. 5A chafodd fab arall eto a'i alw yn Shela. Roedd Jwda yn Chesib ▼▼38:5 Chesib Yr un lle ag Achsib yn Josua 15:44 a Micha 1:15, tua 3 milltir o Adwlam.
pan gafodd hi'r plentyn hwnnw. 6Dyma Jwda yn cael gwraig i Er, ei fab hynaf. Tamar oedd ei henw hi. 7Ond roedd Er yn ddrwg, a dyma'r Arglwydd yn gadael iddo farw. 8Felly dwedodd Jwda wrth Onan, brawd Er, “Dy le di ydy cymryd gwraig dy frawd Er, a magu teulu iddo.” 9Ond roedd Onan yn gwybod na fyddai'r plant yn cael eu cyfri yn blant iddo fe. Felly bob tro roedd e'n cael rhyw gyda Tamar, roedd yn gwneud yn siŵr fod ei had ddim yn mynd iddi, rhag ofn iddi feichiogi. Doedd arno ddim eisiau rhoi plentyn i'w frawd. 10Roedd gwneud peth felly yn ddrwg iawn yng ngolwg yr Arglwydd, felly dyma Duw yn gadael iddo fe farw hefyd. 11Yna dyma Jwda yn dweud wrth Tamar, ei ferch-yng-nghyfraith, “Dos adre at dy dad, ac aros yn weddw nes bydd Shela, fy mab arall, wedi tyfu.” (Ond roedd gan Jwda ofn i Shela farw hefyd, fel ei frodyr.) Felly aeth Tamar adre i fyw at ei thad. 12Beth amser wedyn dyma gwraig Jwda (sef merch Shwa) yn marw. Pan oedd y cyfnod i alaru drosodd, dyma Jwda a'i ffrind Hira o Adwlam yn mynd i Timna i gneifio ei ddefaid. 13A dwedodd rhywun wrth Tamar fod ei thad-yng-nghyfraith yn mynd yno. 14Roedd Tamar yn gwybod fod Shela wedi tyfu, ac eto doedd hi ddim wedi cael ei rhoi yn wraig iddo. Felly dyma Tamar yn newid o'r dillad oedd yn dangos ei bod hi'n weddw, gwisgo i fyny, a rhoi fêl dros ei hwyneb. Yna aeth i eistedd ar ochr y ffordd y tu allan i bentref Enaim, sydd ar y ffordd i Timna. 15Pan welodd Jwda hi, roedd yn meddwl mai putain oedd hi, gan ei bod hi wedi cuddio'i hwyneb. 16Aeth draw ati ar ochr y ffordd, a dweud, “Tyrd, dw i eisiau rhyw gyda ti.” (Doedd e ddim yn gwybod mai ei ferch-yng-nghyfraith oedd hi.) A dyma hithau yn ateb, “Faint wnei di dalu i mi am gael rhyw gyda fi?” 17“Wna i anfon myn gafr i ti o'r praidd,” meddai Jwda. A dyma hi'n ateb, “Dim ond os caf i rywbeth i'w gadw'n ernes nes i ti anfon yr afr i mi.” 18“Beth wyt ti eisiau?” meddai. “Y sêl yna sydd ar y cordyn am dy wddf, a dy ffon di.” Felly dyma fe'n eu rhoi nhw iddi. Cafodd ryw gyda hi, a dyma hi'n beichiogi. 19Aeth i ffwrdd ar unwaith, tynnu'r fêl, a gwisgo'i dillad gweddw eto. 20Dyma Jwda'n anfon ei ffrind o Adwlam gyda'r myn gafr iddi, ac i gael y pethau roddodd e iddi yn ôl. Ond roedd y ffrind yn methu dod o hyd iddi. 21Dyma fe'n holi dynion yr ardal amdani. “Ble mae'r butain cysegr oedd ar ochr y ffordd yn Enaim?” “Does dim putain cysegr yma,” medden nhw. 22Felly aeth yn ôl at Jwda a dweud wrtho, “Dw i wedi methu dod o hyd iddi. Mae dynion yr ardal yn dweud fod dim putain cysegr yno.” 23“Caiff hi gadw'r pethau rois i iddi,” meddai Jwda. “Anfonais i'r myn gafr iddi, ond roeddet ti'n methu dod o hyd iddi. Fyddwn ni'n ddim byd ond testun sbort os awn ni yn ôl yno.” 24Tua tri mis yn ddiweddarach, dwedodd rhywun wrth Jwda, “Mae Tamar, dy ferch-yng-nghyfraith wedi bod yn cysgu o gwmpas. Mae hi'n disgwyl babi.” “Dewch â hi allan yma, a'i llosgi hi!” meddai Jwda. 25Ond wrth iddyn nhw ddod â hi allan, dyma hi'n anfon neges at ei thad-yng-nghyfraith, “Y dyn sydd piau'r pethau yma sydd wedi fy ngwneud i'n feichiog. Edrych pwy sydd piau nhw – y sêl yma sydd ar gordyn, a'r ffon.” 26Dyma Jwda'n gweld mai fe oedd piau nhw. “Hi sy'n iawn a fi sydd ar fai,” meddai. “Wnes i ddim ei rhoi hi'n wraig i'm mab Shela.” Wnaeth Jwda ddim cysgu gyda hi ar ôl hynny. 27Pan ddaeth ei hamser hi, roedd ganddi efeilliaid. 28Wrth iddi eni'r plant dyma un plentyn yn gwthio ei law allan, a dyma'r fydwraig yn rhwymo edau goch am ei arddwrn, a dweud, “Hwn ddaeth allan gynta.” 29Ond wedyn tynnodd ei law yn ôl, a daeth ei frawd allan o'i flaen. “Sut wnest ti lwyddo i wthio trwodd?” meddai'r fydwraig. Felly dyma'r plentyn hwnnw yn cael ei alw yn Perets ▼▼38:29 h.y. torri trwodd
. 30A dyma'i frawd yn cael ei eni wedyn, gyda'r edau goch am ei arddwrn. A dyma fe'n cael ei alw yn Serach ▼▼38:30 h.y. Cochni.
